Description
Hobby Spiral Hose Cleaning Brush - 150cm is a long flexible spiral brush, 22mm across, for scrubbing out the inside of aquarium filter hoses. It is unglamorous and it is the cheapest flow problem to fix: hoses silt up with a soft brown film that narrows the bore, and people replace pumps that were never the problem.

Why Hose Cleaning Matters
- Flow loss is usually the hose, not the pump. A millimetre of film all round a 16mm hose takes a surprising amount of flow out of a canister filter. Clean the hoses before you conclude the filter is failing.
- Do it every few months, at the same time as a filter service.
- Push through from both ends. It is easier than trying to get a 150cm brush through 180cm of hose in one go.
- Rinse with tank water, not the tap, if you want to keep the bacteria living in that film - though most people do not bother with hoses, and that is fine.
Good To Know
- This listing is one 150cm brush.
- Measure your hose bore before ordering. At 22mm this is for standard aquarium hose, not for narrow airline.
- Disconnect the hoses and work in a bucket or a sink. Doing this with the filter connected makes a mess.
- Dry it before putting it away.
