What heating and lighting does a reptile need?
It depends on the species, and it is the part most worth getting right. Most reptiles need a temperature gradient — a basking spot at one end and a cooler end to retreat to — so the animal can regulate its own temperature. Many daytime species also need UVB to process calcium. UVB output falls long before the bulb stops lighting, so replace it on the manufacturer's schedule, usually every six to twelve months, rather than waiting for it to fail.
What do pet reptiles eat?
By species. Aquatic turtles take floating sticks and pellets; tortoises and other herbivores need a high-fibre plant diet; insectivores take live or dried insects. Prepared diets and dried insect foods are both in our reptile food range, and calcium or multivitamin dusting is usually needed alongside them — check what your species requires.
