Description
The Fluval Pro 2.0 Wi-Fi Module is a Wi-Fi controller that adds app control to compatible Fluval LED lighting, letting a light be programmed and adjusted from a phone rather than from buttons on a cable.
Key Features
- Wi-Fi rather than Bluetooth, so the light can be reached from outside the room — the practical difference when you are away and want to check the timer
- Supports two lights from one module, which suits a longer tank running a pair of units
- Real-time adjustment, so you can change intensity and colour while watching the tank rather than guessing
- Programmable schedules, including sunrise and sunset ramps
- Made by Fluval, the aquatics brand of Rolf C. Hagen, which has been building aquarium filters since 1975
Using It
- Set a fixed photoperiod of around 8 hours and leave it. Consistency is what plants and fish respond to; the effects are for you
- A ramp up and down at each end of the day is worth setting. Fish startle less than with a light that snaps on
- Check compatibility with your specific light before ordering. Fluval's LED range has changed several times
- Keep the module out of splash range and fit a drip loop in the cable
Good To Know
- More light for longer grows algae, not plants. If you take one thing from app control, use it to shorten the photoperiod rather than lengthen it
- App-controlled equipment depends on an app that has to keep being supported. Worth knowing before you build a routine around it
- It controls lighting only. It does not monitor or control heaters, pumps or water parameters
- Check which Fluval light you have — compatibility is the thing people get wrong here
