Description
JurassiPet JurassiDiet GutLoad Insect Food - 50 g is a food for the crickets and other prey insects you keep rather than for the reptile itself, in a 50 gram pack.
Key Features
- It feeds the feeders: Gut-loading means filling your crickets with nutrition shortly before they get eaten, so that the nutrition travels into your reptile inside the insect. A cricket fed on nothing is close to an empty shell.
- Alfalfa base, no soy or corn: JurassiPet build it on alfalfa for the calcium and leave the grain fillers out.
- Aimed at the calcium problem: Crickets are naturally poor in calcium and heavy in phosphorus, and that ratio is exactly what causes bone disease in reptiles fed on unsupplemented insects. Loading calcium into the prey is the whole reason gut-loading exists.
- High in protein: Grows the insects on as well as loading them, so your feeders arrive in better condition.
- Works across prey items: Crickets, worms and other feeders.
How Gut-Loading Works
- Feed it to your prey insects for 24 to 48 hours before you offer them to your reptile. That window is what gets the nutrition sitting in the insect's gut where it counts.
- Moisten it first if your insects want it that way, and give them a separate water source. JurassiQuench does that job without drowning them.
- A gut-loaded cricket is not the same thing as a dusted cricket. Dusting puts calcium powder on the outside, where it rubs off in the vivarium within minutes. Gut-loading puts it on the inside. Most keepers do both.
- Do not feed this to your reptile directly. It is formulated for insects.
