Description

JurassiPet JurassiDiet Bearded Dragon Food - 40 g is a pelleted food for bearded dragons built on an alfalfa base, in a 40 gram pack.

Key Features

  • Alfalfa base, no soy or corn: JurassiPet build it on alfalfa, which carries calcium, and leave out soy and corn meal. Their argument is that grain fillers work against calcium absorption.
  • Probiotics: JurassiPet include probiotics and say they support the immune system and help nutrient uptake.
  • Fixed on paper: Protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals in a set ratio every time, which is the one thing a pellet does better than a plate of salad.
  • A small pack: 40 grams is the right amount to find out whether your dragon will take a pellet at all, rather than a bulk buy you are stuck with.

A Pellet Is Part Of The Diet, Not The Diet

  • A bearded dragon is an omnivore and she needs live insects and fresh greens. A juvenile needs a great many insects. No pelleted food replaces either of those.
  • Use this alongside the livefood and the greens rather than instead of them. Dragons kept on pellets alone do badly, and they do it slowly enough that you may not spot it for months.
  • Calcium and D3 supplementation and a working UVB lamp are what stand between a dragon and metabolic bone disease. A pellet substitutes for neither. UVB lamps fade long before they stop looking lit, so replace yours on a schedule rather than when it dies.
  • If you want a straight answer on what a dragon of your dragon's age should be eating and in what proportions, ask us. It is the question we get most and the answer changes as she grows.

Feeding It

  • Offer what she will finish in about an hour, once a day.
  • Food left at the end means the portion was too big. Nothing left means go up a little until there is something left.
  • Plenty of dragons ignore a pellet at first. Mixing it through something she already eats is the usual way in, and the JurassiFruit scent spray is the other.
  • Close the pack and keep it somewhere dry. Forty grams does not last long once it has gone damp.

Good To Know

  • A 40 gram pack.
  • For bearded dragons. JurassiDiet is made in separate formulas for other species, so ask rather than assuming this one crosses over.
  • Not a veterinary diet and not a treatment for anything. A dragon who has stopped eating, dropped weight or gone lethargic needs a reptile vet, not a change of pellet.
  • Out of stock at the moment. Ask us for the lead time.
