Fish4Dogs is a British company that builds its recipes around fish rather than using it as a flavouring. Fish carries omega-3 as EPA and DHA already formed, which is why the whole range leans on it for skin, coat and joint condition — and why fish is a useful protein for dogs that react to chicken or beef.
Dry food
- Finest Adult in sardine or white fish, and Finest Salmon Adult at 27% salmon — each in a small and a large kibble, with identical recipes. Choose by the size of your dog's mouth
- Puppy Salmon & Sweet Potato at 30% protein and 2.3% omega-3, small and large kibble
- All grain-free, with potato and pea instead of cereal
Wet food — and an important distinction
- Finest Complete in 185 g tins (herring or mackerel) is the only complete wet food here. It can be fed as the whole diet: 59% Norwegian fish, 7% potato, minerals
- Everything else in the wet range — the 85 g tins, the flakes, the mousse — is complementary. They are toppers, meant to go over a complete food rather than replace it
- The toppers are unusually low in fat (0.2% in the white fish tin), which makes them one of the few ways to make a weight-control diet more interesting
Treats and supplements
- Training treats — Super Star, Salmon Bites and the puppy versions, all sized small for frequent rewards
- Support+ morsels — skin and coat with krill, joint health with glucosamine and chondroitin, and a mini puppy version
