Description
JBL MicroMec Mini for CPi60/80/100/200 - 190ml is a 190ml cartridge of high-performance filter balls for the JBL CristalProfi i internal filters. It is the biological stage in cartridge form: a basket with an inner pipe that drops into the filter module, and the balls can be rinsed and reused rather than thrown away.

- Fits CristalProfi i60, i80, i100 and i200: ready in its own basket with the inner pipe, so there is nothing to pack.
- Biological filter balls: a porous medium for the bacteria that process ammonia and nitrite.
- Cleanable and reusable: JBL's own point: rinse the balls rather than replacing them, which few cartridges allow.
- 190ml insert: sized to the filter basket.
- Keeps the filter's bacteria: a rinsed biological medium keeps most of its population, where a replaced one starts from nothing.
- Part of the CristalProfi i system: mixes with the other JBL cartridges in the same filter.
Fitting It And Looking After It
- Rinse the balls in tank water at a service and put them straight back. Never rinse them under the tap.
- Keep the foam ahead of them in the flow so they do not silt up.
- If you do replace them, do it at a different service from the foam, so the filter never loses two stages at once.
- Test ammonia and nitrite for a week or two after any change to the biological stage.
Good To Know
- Rinse media in tank water, never under the tap. Chlorine kills the bacteria living on it, and those bacteria are most of what a mature filter is worth.
- Change one stage at a time and leave a week or two between them. Replacing every bit of media in one go strips the filter of its bacteria and the tank can cycle all over again.
- Media only works if water goes through it rather than round it. Fit it so it fills its basket without being rammed in, and check flow afterwards.
- Service the filter on a schedule rather than waiting for the flow to drop. A filter that has slowed right down has already stopped doing part of its job.
