• Control without reaching into the cabinet: On and off, dimming, colour temperature and the RGB channels, all from the handset rather than from a control on the luminaire itself.
• Infrared, so it needs line of sight: Point it at the receiver on the light. Through a closed cabinet door or from the next room it will not work, which is worth knowing before you plan where the tank goes.
• Battery supplied: A CR2025 button cell is in the box, so it works as soon as it arrives.

How The LED Solar System Fits Together

• LED Solar Natur is the main light. It is the white luminaire that lights the tank and grows the plants, and it is the one part of the range you cannot do without.
• LED Solar Effect is a second, slimmer light that adds RGB colour and weather effects. It runs alongside a Natur rather than instead of one, because on its own it will not light a tank properly or grow plants.
• Control is either the IR remote handset or the Smart Controller, not both. The Smart Controller takes the place of the luminaire's infrared receiver, so fitting one puts the handset out of use.
• The Y-cable runs two luminaires from one supply, and the hanging kit suspends either light from the ceiling instead of resting it on the tank.
• Despite the name, nothing in the range is solar powered. LED Solar is simply what JBL call their aquarium luminaire line, and these are mains powered lights for an indoor tank.

Good To Know

• This and the Smart Controller are alternatives, not a pair. The controller replaces the luminaire's infrared receiver, so a tank fitted with one no longer uses this handset.
• Worth having as a spare. A lost or broken handset leaves a dimmable light stuck on whatever setting it was last given.
• CR2025 cells are a common size and inexpensive. Keep a spare rather than finding out the remote is dead on the evening the light will not come on.
