Description

The GiGwi Busy Bee Catnip-Infused Treat-Dispensing Cat Tumbler is a wobbling dispenser you load with dry treats or kibble. Your cat has to bat it about to get anything out, and the catnip oil in the plastic is there to get them interested in the first place.

Key Features

  • Tumbler action: It rocks back upright rather than rolling under the sofa, so your cat keeps working at it.
  • Catnip oil infused: The oil is in the toy itself, which is what gets most cats to engage with a plastic object.
  • Dispenses treats: Drops food a piece at a time as your cat paws at it.
  • Taps hunting instinct: Making a cat work for food is closer to how they are built to eat than a full bowl is.
  • Slows eating down: Useful for cats who bolt a bowl and then bring it back up.

How To Introduce It

  • Start with the opening set wide and plenty of treats inside, so the first few pushes pay off.
  • Use your cat's normal kibble rather than extra treats, and take that amount out of their meal.
  • Feed one or two meals a day this way rather than all of them.
  • Wash and dry it properly between uses -- stale food residue is what puts cats off these toys.

About Catnip

Catnip does not work on every cat. Roughly two thirds respond to it; the response is inherited, and kittens under about three months usually show nothing at all. If your cat ignores it, that is normal and not a fault. Leave a catnip toy out all the time and most cats stop reacting. Put it away between sessions and the effect comes back.

Good To Know

  • Count the food that goes in as part of the day's ration, especially for a cat on a weight plan.
  • Not suitable for wet food or anything that will go sticky inside the toy.
  • If your cat has a dental problem or struggles to eat, a puzzle feeder is the wrong tool -- see the vet first.
  • No toy is indestructible. Check it over before every session and bin it once it splits, frays or starts shedding pieces, because swallowed fragments cause blockages.
  • Not a children's toy. Keep it with the pet's things.
