Georplast Soft Touch Double Pet Bowl, Plastic - 2x460ml - Blue

The Georplast Soft Touch Double Pet Bowl, Plastic is a soft-touch moulded holder with two removable 460ml plastic bowls in it - food and water in one unit, with both bowls lifting out to wash.

Key Features

• Two 460ml bowls, removable
• Holder measures 31 x 20 x 3.5cm
• Soft-touch finish on the holder, which is what stops the whole unit sliding across tile
• Bowls lift out so you can wash them properly rather than wiping round a fixed moulding
• Four colours: Blue, Green, Grey and Pink
• All four colours currently in stock

Plastic Or Stainless Steel

• This is the plastic-bowl version. Georplast make the same holder with stainless steel bowls at the same price
• Steel is the better choice for a cat - plastic scratches, scratches hold bacteria, and plastic bowls are the classic trigger for feline acne
• Plastic is lighter and quieter, which some nervous dogs prefer over a steel bowl that rings when the tag hits it
• Either way the holder is identical, so it is purely a question of what goes in it

Two Bowls Side By Side

• Convenient, but worth knowing: many cats prefer their water away from their food, and will drink more from a separate bowl across the room
• For a dog it matters far less, and a double bowl is simply tidier
• 460ml a side is a sensible meal for a small to medium dog and plenty for any cat

Bowl Hygiene

• Wash food bowls daily and water bowls every day or two. Biofilm - the slippery film you can feel on a neglected water bowl - builds within a day in warm weather
• Plastic scratches, and scratches hold bacteria. Once a plastic bowl is visibly scored, replace it
• Feline acne is a real thing and plastic bowls are the classic trigger. If your cat has blackheads or spots on the chin, switch to stainless steel or ceramic
• Hot water and detergent, or the dishwasher if the bowl is marked safe for it

Who Makes It

• Georplast s.r.l. is an Italian manufacturer founded in 1970, based at Mezzago just outside Milan
• They injection-mould their own plastic rather than buying it in, and the whole pet range is made in Italy
• Design is done with an Italian studio, which is why the trays and carriers look less utilitarian than most of the category

Good To Know

• Plastic wears out. Once a tray or bowl is visibly scratched, those scratches hold bacteria and odour that washing will not shift - replace it rather than scrubbing harder
• Colours vary by batch and the photograph is a guide. Pick on size first - the colour is the part that matters least to the cat
