Georplast Duck Transparent Covered Pet Bed - Blue

The Georplast Duck Transparent Covered Pet Bed is the Duck bed with a clear hood instead of a solid one - enclosed enough to feel safe, transparent enough that the cat can still see what is going on, which suits the ones that want both.

Key Features

• Transparent hood over a moulded base
• Lets a pet stay enclosed while still watching the room
• Wipe-clean shell
• Three colours: Blue, Green and Pink - the base colour, with the hood clear on all three
• All three colours currently in stock

Who The Clear Hood Suits

• Cats that want to be enclosed but refuse anything they cannot see out of - which is a surprising number of them
• Nervous cats in a busy or noisy home, where being able to watch the door is what lets them settle
• Any cat that walked away from a solid covered bed. This is the obvious next thing to try before giving up on covered beds entirely

Where To Put A Cat Bed

• Somewhere the cat already chooses to sleep, not where you would like them to
• With the opening facing into the room rather than at a wall. The whole point of a clear hood is the view
• Out of direct sun. A transparent hood in sunlight turns into a greenhouse, which matters a great deal in this climate
• Away from the litter tray and the food bowls

Keeping It Clean

• Wipe the hood with a soft cloth and a mild detergent. Avoid anything abrasive - clear plastic scratches and goes cloudy
• Wash any cushion monthly, and more often if fleas are being treated
• Dry it fully before the pet goes back in

Who Makes It

• Georplast s.r.l. is an Italian manufacturer founded in 1970, based at Mezzago just outside Milan
• They injection-mould their own plastic rather than buying it in, and the whole pet range is made in Italy
• Design is done with an Italian studio, which is why the trays and carriers look less utilitarian than most of the category

Good To Know

• Keep it out of direct sunlight. A clear hood traps heat quickly
• Make sure air can circulate. A covered bed should never be positioned so the opening is blocked
• Suits cats and small dogs
• Plastic wears out. Once a tray or bowl is visibly scratched, those scratches hold bacteria and odour that washing will not shift - replace it rather than scrubbing harder
• Colours vary by batch and the photograph is a guide. Pick on size first - the colour is the part that matters least to the cat
