FOFOS Cuddle Duck Heartbeat Comfort Toy & Mat

The FOFOS Cuddle Duck Heartbeat Comfort Toy & Mat is a plush duck and a matching mat with a small electronic module inside. The module pulses at a steady rhythm like a heartbeat, and it records fifteen seconds of your voice to play back every few minutes.

Key Features

• Removable module that pulses steadily, the way a littermate's chest does
• Records up to 15 seconds of your own voice and replays it about every 5 minutes
• USB rechargeable, so there are no batteries to keep buying
• Soft plush duck plus a separate duck-shaped mat to lie on

Where It Genuinely Helps

• The first nights after a puppy leaves the litter are the hardest. A warm shape with a pulse in it is the closest thing to what they have just lost, and it does settle a lot of puppies
• It is also useful in a crate during the settling-in period, and as a familiar object to take to kennels or on a move
• Record your own voice rather than leaving it silent. Familiar sound plus rhythm works better than rhythm alone

Where It Does Not

• Separation anxiety is a diagnosed behavioural condition, not just a dog who dislikes being alone. A comfort toy does not treat it
• Noise phobia - thunder, fireworks - is the same. Dogs with a real noise phobia need a behaviour plan, and often medication from your vet, and a plush duck will not substitute for either
• If your dog panics, destroys things or soils when left, please talk to your vet rather than buying a toy. It is a treatable problem and worth treating properly

Washing It

• Take the module out before the plush or the mat goes anywhere near water. It is electronic and it is not waterproof
• Plush and mat are cotton and can be machine washed once the module is out. Air dry fully before putting the module back
• Check the module pocket closure each time. A module that works loose is a swallowable object

Good To Know

• This is a comfort object, not a chew toy. A dog that starts chewing it should not be left with it, module or no module
• Choose a toy your dog cannot fit whole in the back of the mouth, and replace it once the seams open
• Supervise play and take the toy away once it starts to come apart. No dog toy is indestructible, and swallowed pieces can cause a blockage
