Hunter Easy Comfort Dog Muzzle - Size 7 is an adjustable nylon muzzle shaped so a dog can still pant, drink and take a treat through it - which is the difference between a muzzle you can actually use and one that only works for a two-minute vet exam. It adjusts steplessly, has an extra Velcro strap over the nose bridge, and the fabric is water- and dirt-resistant with an antibacterial treatment.

Heat, And Why It Matters Here

• Any muzzle reduces how well a dog can cool itself. Panting is how dogs lose heat, and even a muzzle designed to allow it restricts airflow to some degree. In UAE temperatures that is not a small detail.
• Keep muzzled time short and in the shade. Not a walk in the afternoon sun, not a long wait outside, not a car.
• Never leave a muzzled dog alone. Not in a crate, not in a garden, not tied up outside a shop. If you cannot watch them, take it off.
• Offer water regularly. The shape allows drinking - make use of that rather than assuming they are fine.

Introducing It Properly

• Do not put it straight on. A muzzle forced onto a dog becomes a thing they fight, and then it is useless when you actually need it. Start by holding it out and feeding through it, so they push their own nose in.
• Build up over days, not minutes. Nose in and out, then a second with the strap loose, then a few seconds done up, always with food. If your dog freezes or tries to get it off, you have gone too fast.
• Check the fit. It should not rub the bridge of the nose or press against the eyes, and your dog should be able to open their mouth enough to pant properly. Keep the Velcro clear of hair or it will not hold.

• A muzzle manages a problem, it does not solve one. It makes a dog safe to handle at the vet or the groomer and buys you room to work. The behaviour behind it still needs training, and often a behaviourist.
