Hunter London Dog Collar - Black / M

Hunter London Dog Collar is the Vario collar from Hunter's London range, in the same light, tear-resistant polyester as the London harness. Two things set it apart from a plain flat collar: a pull-relief section that takes the shock off the clasp, and a safety clasp that locks shut and releases again easily.

• Pull-Relief: when your dog hits the end of the leash, the load is spread through the collar instead of landing entirely on the plastic buckle. That is what stops clasps failing.
• Lockable Safety Clasp: clicks shut firmly and opens easily when you want it to. The combination is the point.
• Polyester, Not Nylon: Hunter's London material is extremely tear-resistant and light, and it holds its shape rather than stretching. It is also easy to rinse out.

Getting The Fit Right

• Measure, do not guess. Run a tape around your dog's neck where the collar will sit, and compare that against the ranges above. Breed and weight are poor guides - two dogs the same weight can be two sizes apart.
• Two fingers. You should be able to slide two fingers flat between the collar and your dog's neck. Tighter than that rubs; looser and a determined dog backs out of it.
• Check it on a growing dog. Puppies outgrow a collar faster than you expect. Re-check the fit every couple of weeks until they stop growing.

Good To Know

• Pick the size and colour above. Not every colour holds every size, and the ranges overlap, so if you are between two sizes the wider one is usually the more comfortable.
• Lime is the one to pick if being seen matters to you - a bright collar in daylight does more than a reflective strip does at noon.
• UAE sun is hard on webbing and plastic. Nylon and polyester fade and weaken with constant UV, and plastic clasps get brittle. Check the clasp still clicks firmly shut and look for fraying where the hardware meets the webbing. Rinse salt or pool water out and dry it in the shade rather than on a hot windowsill.
• Take it off in the crate. A collar is a snag hazard on crate bars, furniture and another dog's jaw. Off when your dog is unsupervised.
• Check the clasp is fully engaged before every walk. Half-closed looks closed.
• If your dog pulls hard on a regular basis, the pull-relief protects the collar but not your dog's neck. A harness is the right answer there.
