Description

Hunter London Dog Harness is the polyester harness from Hunter's London range - light, tear-resistant, quick-drying and easy to rinse out, which matters a great deal more in this climate than it does in Germany. It adjusts at two points and closes with a colour-matched safety clasp.

Key Features

  • Two-Point Adjustment: neck and belly, so you can set it to your dog rather than making do with a fixed shape.
  • Material: polyester upper and under material, soft against the coat but tear-resistant, and it keeps its shape rather than stretching out.
  • Easy To Clean, Quick-Drying: the practical advantage over leather or padded nylon here. Rinse it, hang it, use it.
  • Matching Safety Clasp in the colour of the webbing.
  • Colours: Black, Dark Blue and Red.

Sizes On This Listing

  • S-M48: neck 40cm, belly adjusts 48 to 56cm, 2.5cm wide.
  • S-M52: neck 49cm, belly adjusts 52 to 62cm, 2.5cm wide.
  • M: neck 55cm, belly adjusts 57 to 70cm, 2.5cm wide.
  • M-L63: neck 63cm, belly adjusts 63 to 82cm, 2.5cm wide.
  • L: Hunter make two L widths - one with a 68 to 91cm belly and one with a 73 to 100cm belly - and this listing does not say which it holds. If your dog's girth is near either end of that, message us and we will check the stock before you order.

Getting The Fit Right

  • Measure, do not guess. You need two numbers: the neck, and the girth round the deepest part of the chest just behind the front legs. Compare both against the ranges above. Breed and weight are poor guides - two dogs the same weight can be two sizes apart.
  • Two fingers. You should be able to slide two fingers flat under the straps. Tighter than that rubs, particularly in the armpit; looser and a determined dog backs out of it.
  • Watch the armpit. The chest strap should sit clear of the armpit, not against it. That is where harnesses chafe, and where a badly fitted one changes how a dog moves.
  • Check it on a growing dog. Puppies outgrow a harness faster than you expect. Re-check every couple of weeks until they stop growing.

Good To Know

  • Pick the size and colour above. Girth is measured round the deepest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
  • A harness takes the pressure off the neck, which is its main advantage - useful for any dog that pulls, and for flat-faced breeds and small dogs with delicate windpipes.
  • UAE sun is hard on webbing and plastic. Nylon and polyester fade and weaken with constant UV, and plastic clasps get brittle. Check the clasp still clicks firmly shut and look for fraying where the hardware meets the webbing. Rinse salt or pool water out and dry it in the shade rather than on a hot windowsill.
  • Two-point adjustment is simple and quick but gives less fine control than the five-point Divo. If your dog is an awkward shape - deep chest, narrow waist - look at the Divo instead.
  • Check the clasp is fully closed before every walk. A clasp that is only half engaged looks shut.
