Description

Hunter Dog Training Clicker with Lanyard is a box clicker on a neck cord - the simplest and most precise training tool there is. The click does one job: it tells your dog the exact instant they got it right, which is far more useful than a word, because it is quicker, sharper and always sounds the same.

Key Features

  • Marks The Moment: a click lands in a fraction of a second, so your dog can tell which part of what they just did earned the reward.
  • Always Identical: no tone of voice, no hesitation. The same sound every time, which is what makes it easy for a dog to learn.
  • Works For Everything: Hunter point out that clicker work suits basic obedience, dog sports and trick training alike. The method is the same whether you are teaching a sit or a spin.
  • Neck Lanyard: keeps it on you and leaves both hands for the dog, the treat and the leash.

How To Use It Properly

  • Click once, then feed. Every time. The click is a promise of food. If you click and nothing arrives, the click stops working. One click, one treat - not a rattle of clicks for a good effort.
  • Click the behaviour, not the dog's name. Timing is the whole skill. Click the instant the bottom touches the floor, not two seconds later when they are already standing.
  • Charge it first. Spend a minute clicking and feeding for nothing at all, so your dog learns the sound predicts food before you ask for any behaviour.
  • Keep sessions short. Two or three minutes, a few times a day, beats one long session. Stop while your dog is still keen.
  • Fade it out. The clicker is for teaching something new. Once a behaviour is solid, you do not need to keep clicking it.

Good To Know

  • This listing is one clicker with its lanyard.
  • The lanyard is for you to wear, never the dog. A cord around a dog's neck is a strangulation risk.
  • Some dogs find a box clicker startling at first. If yours flinches, click it inside a pocket or behind your back to soften it until they are used to the sound.
  • Have the treats ready before you pick the clicker up. Fumbling for food after the click is the most common reason clicker training stalls.
  • A clicker is a marker, not a remote control. It tells a dog what worked; it cannot tell them what to do.
