Exo Terra Monsoon Solo II Misting System - For Terrarium - 1.5L

The Exo Terra Monsoon Solo II is a programmable misting system for a single terrarium — an automated way to hold humidity steady instead of relying on remembering to mist by hand.

Why Automate Misting

Hand misting has an obvious weakness: it happens when you are home. A rainforest species needs humidity maintained through the day and overnight, and a spray bottle twice a day produces a sawtooth — briefly saturated, then steadily drying out for hours.

Those swings cause real problems. Poor shedding, dehydration and respiratory illness all follow from unstable humidity, and species like crested geckos and dart frogs are particularly sensitive to it. Short, frequent automated bursts hold conditions far closer to constant.

Regular misting also stimulates breeding behaviour in many species, which respond to the onset of a rainy season.

Also Good For Plants

The fine mist suits tropical plants that absorb moisture through their leaves rather than their roots — bromeliads, orchids, tillandsias and mosses all do markedly better under it.

Setting It Up

• Start with short, frequent bursts rather than long ones, and check humidity with a hygrometer over a full day before settling on a schedule.
• Aim nozzles at foliage and decor, not directly at the animal or into a basking area.
• Use dechlorinated or filtered water. Tap water leaves mineral deposits that clog nozzles and spot the glass, and chlorine is harmful to amphibians.
• Make sure the enclosure can dry out between mistings. Permanently wet substrate causes scale rot and skin infections.
• Check the reservoir before going away.
