Exo Terra is a reptile and amphibian specialist brand from Hagen, covering everything a terrarium needs: glass and screen enclosures, UVB and basking lighting, heating, substrates, filtration, misting and hides.
Enclosures

Lighting And Heat: The Part To Get Right
Most reptiles need three separate things, and one bulb rarely does all of them:
- UVB so the animal can make vitamin D3 and use the calcium in its food — the UVB 100, 150 and 200 compact bulbs, the Solar Glo (which also gives heat) or the TerraSky UV LED
- Heat from a basking lamp such as the Intense Basking Spot, creating a warm end and a cool end so the animal can choose
- Visible light for a natural-looking terrarium and for live plants — Natural Light or the TerraSky
Glass and plastic block UVB, so a UVB bulb has to sit inside the enclosure or above open mesh. A dense screen can filter out a large part of the output, and fluorescent UVB bulbs need replacing roughly every six months — long before they stop looking bright.
Everything Else
- Substrates — Forest Bark, Forest Moss, Plantation Soil and Bamboo Forest Floor for humid setups; Stone Desert for arid ones
- Humidity — Monsoon misting systems, the ultrasonic Fogger, and digital thermometers and hygrometers to check it is working
- Water — Repti Clear submersible filters, the FX-200 canister filter for turtles, Repti Flo pumps and the Pebble Waterfall
- Hides and decor — skull and fossil hides, the Reptile Cave and the Tortoise Shell. Two hides, one at each end of the temperature gradient, is the usual advice
