JUWEL Phorax Phosphate Removal Cartridge - M is a phosphate removing cartridge for the Bioflow 3.0 and Bioflow Compact filters.
Key Features
- Fits the Bioflow 3.0 and Bioflow Compact filters: Order by the filter, not by the tank. This is the M size, and the sizes are not interchangeable.
- Aimed at algae's food supply: Phosphate is one of the two nutrients algae runs on. Pulling it down is a slower, more durable fix than scrubbing glass, but test first so you know phosphate is actually your problem.
- How this one is handled: Chemical media. It is used up rather than clogged, and once exhausted it does nothing at all. Replace it on a schedule rather than when it looks dirty.
- One part of a stack: A Bioflow runs several media together. Changing them all at once restarts the tank's cycle, so stagger them.
Ordering The Right One
- Order by your filter model, not by the litres of your aquarium. The letter on the box is the Bioflow it fits, and the sizes do not interchange.
- If you are unsure which Bioflow you have, tell us which JUWEL aquarium it came with and we will work it out and confirm before we dispatch.
Looking After Filter Media
- Never rinse biological media under the tap. Dubai tap water is chlorinated, chlorine kills the bacteria you are trying to keep, and those bacteria are the entire value of the sponge. Rinse it in a bucket of tank water.
- Never change all the media at once. Swap one part and leave the rest, so the bacterial population survives and the tank does not restart its cycle.
- Mechanical pads clog and get replaced. Biological sponge and ceramic get rinsed and go back in. Chemical media are used up and then do nothing.
Good To Know
- Test before and after. Dosing a remover at a tank that was never high in phosphate just costs money and can starve your plants.
- Fits the Bioflow 3.0 and Bioflow Compact filters. Tell us your aquarium model if you are not sure which Bioflow you have.
- Stagger your media changes. Replacing everything in one go is the commonest way a settled tank suddenly reads ammonia again.
