Julius-K9 IDC Lumino Collar - Red - 2.5 cm x 50 cm is JULIUS-K9's glow-in-the-dark collar in red, 2.5 cm wide and 50 cm long, lined on the inside with black cow leather.

Key Features

• Glows in the dark: Charge it in daylight or under a lamp and it holds a glow afterwards, so you can keep sight of your dog in a dark garden or on an unlit path.
• Leather lined against the neck: A black cow leather liner on the inside face. Leather against the skin is softer than webbing and does not hold a wet smell the way a synthetic lining does.
• 2.5 cm wide: A broad collar spreads the load rather than cutting a line, which matters most on a dog who leans into it.
• Takes a tag and a leash: A plain everyday collar as well as a glowing one, so it carries his ID disc and takes a leash.

Getting The Length Right

• Measure round the neck where the collar will sit, then add roughly two fingers' width. Two fingers should slide flat under the fitted collar.
• This one is 50 cm. We list the Lumino collar in 45 cm and 50 cm, so measure before you order rather than going by breed.
• Check the fit again on a growing dog every couple of weeks, and after a clip or a moult on a thick coated one.
• A collar you can pull over the ears is too loose. A dog who backs out of a collar on a busy road is the reason we sell so many harnesses.

Collar Or Harness

• A collar carries identification and is the simplest thing to clip a leash to for a short, calm walk.
• A dog who pulls should be walked on a harness. Pulling against a collar puts the load straight into the throat, and on a flat faced breed or a small dog with a delicate windpipe that is worth avoiding entirely.
• Many owners here use both: the collar stays on for the tag, and the harness goes on for the walk.

Looking After It

• Wipe the leather liner with a barely damp cloth and let it dry naturally. Do not soak it, and keep it off the radiator.
• Rinse the outside in fresh water after the beach or the pool and dry it before it goes back on.
• Leather needs a little conditioner once in a while to stop it drying out and cracking, and this climate is hard on it.
• Check the buckle and the D-ring regularly, and replace the collar at the first sign of a cracked liner or a stretched hole.

Good To Know
