JBL ProScan Recharge +

JBL ProScan Recharge + is the refill pack of test strips for JBL's ProScan system. The strips do the chemistry and the free ProScan app on your phone reads the colours, returning numbers for general hardness, carbonate hardness, pH, nitrite, nitrate, chlorine and CO2.

Key Features

• Refill strips for ProScan: this is the consumable, not the system. You need the ProScan app to read them.
• Seven values: JBL lists general hardness, carbonate hardness, pH, nitrite, nitrate, chlorine and CO2.
• The phone reads the colour: which removes the guesswork that makes strip tests unreliable.
• A rating with each number: JBL's app returns good, medium or poor alongside the figure.
• Advice included: the app suggests what to do about a reading rather than leaving you with a number.
• For freshwater aquariums: JBL lists it for freshwater.

Getting A Good Scan

• Scan in even, indirect daylight, with the phone square to the strip rather than at an angle.
• Read at the time the app asks for, because the pads keep developing.
• Take one strip out and close the tub straight away. An open tub of strips does not survive humidity.
• Dip briefly and do not swish the strip about, or you wash the reagent out of the pads.

Good To Know

• These are refill strips. They need the ProScan app, and they are not a test you can read by eye against a printed chart.
• Check the expiry date. Strips age, and an old strip reads wrong without looking any different.
• Store them closed, cool and dry, away from direct sun and out of reach of children.
• For a reading you are about to act on with a chemical dose, confirm it with a drop test first.
