Howbone Small Bone Milk Dog Chews - 270g

Howbone Small Bone Milk Dog Chews - 270g is a 270g pouch holding 15 regular-size bone-shaped chews in a milk flavour. Howbone marks the pack Regular Size, which is its mid-size piece; the Mini Bone pack holds 30 smaller pieces instead. One or two a day is the brand's own guide.

Key Features

• 15 pieces: a clear count on the pack, so you can work out how long a bag lasts at one or two a day.
• Regular size: Howbone's mid-size piece, aimed at an average dog rather than a toy breed.
• Milk flavour: a milder option than the chicken and beef versions of the same bone.
• No added sugar or salt: Howbone states the recipe is free of added sugar, salt and artificial preservatives.
• Something to work at: a shaped chew keeps a dog busy for longer than a soft treat that disappears in one bite.

Good To Know

• Howbone states that these are not suitable for dogs under six months old.
• Howbone lists added vitamins, minerals, glucosamine and chondroitin. At one or two pieces a day those amounts are small, so take them as part of the recipe rather than as a joint treatment. If your dog needs joint support, ask your vet about a proper supplement instead.
• Not every dog handles milk well. Start with a small amount and stop if you see loose stools or wind.
• Stay in the room while your dog works on a chew. Take the last piece away once it is small enough to swallow whole, and keep fresh water down.
• Treats are extra calories. Keep them to roughly a tenth of what your dog eats in a day and take the difference off the main meal.
• Press the pack closed again after each use and keep it somewhere cool and dry. Left open, these dry out and lose the smell that makes a dog want them.
