How To Use It

• Clean the area first with the Greenfields Stain and Odour Spray if it has been soiled, and let it dry fully.
• Apply the Training Spray onto and around the area you want left alone.
• For soft furnishings, Greenfields suggest spraying an old cloth and laying that on the furniture instead of spraying the fabric itself.
• Always test a hidden area of carpet or upholstery for colour change before you spray the visible part.
• Reapply every day or two at first. The scent fades, and so does the lesson.

The Spray Is The Easy Half

A taste or scent deterrent stops a dog using one particular chair leg. It does not address why the chewing is happening, and that is usually boredom, being left too long, teething in a puppy, or anxiety. Pair it with something the dog is allowed to chew, more exercise and more to do, and it works. On its own the dog usually just moves to the next chair leg.

Chewing By Cause

• Teething puppy: Give it something cold and legal to chew. This passes.
• Bored dog: More walking, more sniffing, something to work at while you are out.
• Anxious dog: Destruction only when left alone is separation anxiety, and a deterrent spray will not touch it. That needs a behaviourist and sometimes a vet.
• Scratching cat: A cat is not misbehaving, it is doing what claws are for. Put a scratching post where the cat already scratches, not in the spare room.
