Furrish Ear Wipes for Dogs - 100 Wipes

The Furrish Ear Wipes for Dogs is a pack of 100 disposable wipes for routine ear cleaning - the outer ear and the entrance to the canal, which is as far as anything should ever go.

Key Features

• 100 wipes per pack
• Alcohol free, so no sting on skin that is already a little sore
• Aloe vera leaf extract and witch hazel extract
• For all breeds, and for routine maintenance rather than treatment
• One wipe per ear - never carry debris from one ear to the other
• This item is currently out of stock

How To Clean An Ear Safely

• Massage the base of the ear first. It relaxes the dog and loosens debris up towards the opening
• Wrap the wipe over your finger and clean the visible folds of the ear flap and the entrance to the canal. Stop where you can see
• Let the dog shake its head between ears - that brings up more than you will ever reach
• Use a fresh wipe for the second ear, every time
• Never push a wipe, a cotton bud or anything else down into the canal. A dog's ear canal turns a corner, so you cannot see what you are pushing debris onto

What Is In Them

• Water, propylene glycol, malic acid, glycerin, dimethicone copolyol, polysorbate 20, aloe vera leaf extract, witch hazel extract and others
• Witch hazel is a mild astringent, which is why it turns up in ear products - it helps dry the surface
• Aloe is there for comfort on irritated skin
• Furrish describe the wipes as biodegradable. That is a claim about the cloth rather than everything in the formula, so bin them rather than composting them

Ears Worth Watching

• Drop-eared and hairy-eared breeds - spaniels, poodles, retrievers - trap heat and moisture and need checking weekly
• So does any dog that swims, and any dog with allergic skin disease. Ear infections are very often the first sign of an underlying allergy
• A healthy ear is pale pink, has almost no smell, and produces only a little pale wax

Who Makes It

• Furrish is a UK dog grooming range built for home use rather than for salons - the kit you would want between professional appointments
• The range covers the whole routine: brushes and combs, shampoos, a detangler, wipes, colognes, a towel and clippers

Good To Know

• Routine cleaning only. These wipes do not treat an ear infection and nothing here is medicated
• Stop and see a vet if the ear is red, hot, swollen or painful, smells yeasty or foul, has dark or discoloured discharge, or if the dog is shaking its head, tilting it or scratching at it
• Do not use anything in the ear if there is any chance the eardrum is perforated. If you are not sure, ask the vet first
• Bin them, never flush them
• Patch test anything new - a small amount on one spot, then leave it a day and check for redness before using it all over
