Description
The Fluval WP1500 Circulation Pump for EVO, SPEC & FLEX Aquariums is the genuine replacement circulation pump for Fluval's EVO 52 L, SPEC and FLEX aquariums — the pump that sits in the rear compartment and drives the whole filtration system.
Key Features
- Fits the EVO aquarium at 52 L, the SPEC range and the FLEX range
- The pump is what makes an all-in-one aquarium work. Without it the rear compartment is just a box of media
- Quiet running, with the rubberised mounting these tanks are designed around
- A genuine part rather than a generic pump, so it seats correctly in the compartment and the nozzle lines up
- Made by Fluval, the aquatics brand of Rolf C. Hagen, which has been building aquarium filters since 1975
Fitting It
- Unplug anything electrical before putting your hands in the tank
- Lift the old pump out of the rear compartment and note which way the outlet faced before you remove the hose
- Check whether the fault is actually the pump. Nine times out of ten a pump that has slowed down has a blocked or limescaled impeller, and a new impeller is a fraction of the price
- Prime it by making sure the rear chamber is full before switching on
- Run it for a few minutes and check the flow at the nozzle before closing up
Good To Know
- Before replacing the whole pump, try the impeller. Fluval sells the WP1500 impeller separately and it fixes most cases
- The rear chamber must stay topped up. A pump running dry, even briefly, is the fastest way to kill the replacement too
- A genuine Fluval spare part. Check the model number against your unit before ordering — Fluval part numbers look alike and do not cross over between series
- Check which tank you have. The FLEX 123 L uses the larger PH-2000, not this pump
