The Flamingo Neon Hamster Play Ball is a 17.5 cm translucent exercise ball with ventilation slots and a clip-in lid, for supervised runs outside the cage.

Using It Safely

• Ten to fifteen minutes at a time is plenty. There is no water and no way out of a ball, and hamsters overheat quickly
• Never leave the room. Supervision is the whole safety system here
• Block stairs and doorways before you start. A ball down a flight of stairs is a serious injury
• Keep other pets and small children well away while it is in use
• Check the lid is properly clipped every single time before you put the animal in
• Wipe it out after each use. Hamsters toilet while they run

Good To Know

• Exercise balls divide opinion. Many keepers avoid them entirely, on the grounds that the animal cannot see or smell where it is going, cannot stop and cannot get out. A correctly sized wheel and a large floor pen give the same exercise without those problems
• Do not use it as a way to keep a hamster occupied while you clean the cage. Ten minutes is the limit, not the minimum
• Too small for a large Syrian to run with a flat back. If the back arches, stop using it
