Flamingo Single-Sided Dog Thinning Scissors - 17cm

The Flamingo Single-Sided Dog Thinning Scissors is a 17 cm grooming scissor with cutting teeth on one blade and a plain edge on the other, which takes out noticeably more hair per pass than a double-sided thinner.

Key Features

• Teeth on one blade only, so each pass removes more hair than a double-sided thinner. Quicker, but less forgiving

How To Use Them

• On a mat, cut into it from the outside edge and work towards the skin, opening the mat up so it can be brushed apart
• Never cut across the base of a mat. Matted skin lifts with the mat, and it is very easy to cut the dog
• Hold a comb flat against the skin under the mat as a guard if you are working close
• On an ordinary coat, cut along the direction the hair falls, and comb out between passes
• Oil the pivot and store them closed

Good To Know

• This is the more aggressive of the two thinning scissors. If you are new to it, the double-sided version is the one to start with
• A badly matted dog is a groomer's job, not a first project. Tight mats pull the skin and often hide sores underneath
• Have a second person steady the dog. A dog that jerks into an open blade is the injury that actually happens
• Keep them out of reach between sessions. These are properly sharp
