FARMA Junior Economy Pigeon Food - 20kg

The FARMA Junior Economy Pigeon Food is an economical fifteen-variety grain ration for young pigeons, which FARMA rates as a complete diet suitable across all seasons.

Key Features

• Fifteen varieties: barley, wheat, yellow millet, paddy rice, rice, red and white sorghum, rapeseed, safflower, black and striped sunflower, yellow, green and maple peas, and vetches
• Built as a cost-effective ration for growing birds and for feeding a loft through the year
• Peas and vetches supply protein for growth, while barley and sorghum keep the energy density moderate
• 20 kg sack
• Made in Greece by Farma Friends, a pet-food maker near Thessaloniki that has been blending seed since 1997

Feeding

• Young birds eat more than settled adults relative to their size. Feed twice a day and judge by body condition rather than a fixed scoop
• Offer grit and a mineral or calcium source separately; no seed mix supplies enough calcium on its own
• Clean, fresh water at all times, changed at least daily in hot weather

Good To Know

• This is an economy mix. It is a sound ration, but it is not the higher-energy blend you would feed a racing team in competition
• Store the sack sealed, cool and off a concrete floor. Grain that takes up damp grows mould, and mouldy grain makes birds ill
• Young pigeons are most vulnerable to canker, coccidiosis and paratyphoid. Feed hygiene and clean water do more for them than any change of mix
• Weaning birds onto hard grain takes time. Check crops in the evening to be sure the youngsters are actually eating
