FARMA Exotic Budget Mix Bird Food - 20kg

The FARMA Exotic Budget Mix Bird Food is a seven-seed, millet-led mix for exotic finches and other small seed-eaters, sold in a 20 kg sack as the economical option in FARMA's exotic range.

Key Features

• Seven seeds: yellow millet, yellow panicum, canary seed, white millet, red millet, japanese millet and linseed
• All small seed — the size range that exotic finches, waxbills and mannikins can actually handle
• Four different millets plus panicum, which is close to what many of these species eat in the wild
• 20 kg sack
• Made in Greece by Farma Friends, a pet-food maker near Thessaloniki that has been blending seed since 1997

Feeding

• Small finches eat little but almost constantly. Keep seed available and tip the husks off at least once a day
• Add egg food during breeding, fresh greens, cuttlebone and fine grit
• Live food matters for some exotic species, particularly while they are rearing chicks
• Clean, fresh water at all times, changed at least daily in hot weather

Good To Know

• Seven seeds is a narrow mix. It is a sound base but not, on its own, a complete diet for a breeding aviary
• Exotic finches are small and have almost no reserves. Many will not survive a day without food, and they conceal illness until very late
• Spray millet and greens are cheap ways to add the variety a seven-seed mix lacks
• Check the sack for weevils and pantry moth in warm weather, and use it within a couple of months
• A 20 kg sack is aviary and breeder quantity. For one or two birds, buy the retail bag instead — seed goes stale and oily seed goes rancid
