FARMA Depurative Post-Race Pigeon Food - 20kg

The FARMA Depurative Post-Race Pigeon Food is a light, barley-and-rice-led mix fed in the days after a race — a deliberately plain ration that lets a bird settle before the next hard feed.

Key Features

• Eleven varieties: buckwheat, barley, wheat, yellow and red millet, peeled oats, rice, red and white sorghum, safflower and linseed
• FARMA says the high barley and paddy rice content shortens the recovery period and helps birds build back strength
• Deliberately lower in legumes and oil seed than the racing mix — the point is a light feed, not a rich one
• 20 kg sack
• Made in Greece by Farma Friends, a pet-food maker near Thessaloniki that has been blending seed since 1997

Feeding

• Fed for a day or two after a race or a hard training toss, then back onto the working ration
• Water and electrolytes matter more than feed in the first hours after birds are home
• Offer grit and a mineral or calcium source separately; no seed mix supplies enough calcium on its own

Good To Know

• A depurative mix is a light ration, not a treatment. It will not clear an infection, and a bird that comes home genuinely sick needs a vet
• 'Depurative' is a traditional fanciers' term for a cleansing feed. There is no regulated definition behind the word
• Fed continuously it is too light to maintain a working team
• Store the sack sealed, cool and off a concrete floor. Grain that takes up damp grows mould, and mouldy grain makes birds ill
