FARMA Daily Pigeon Food - 20kg

The FARMA Daily Pigeon Food is FARMA's everyday maintenance ration — eleven grains built around high-quality French maize, for feeding a loft on ordinary days.

Key Features

• Eleven varieties: barley, wheat, corn, rice, red and white sorghum, safflower, black sunflower, yellow and green peas, and vetches
• Built on French maize, which FARMA specifies by origin
• A straightforward maintenance mix — fewer and larger grains than the racing and breeding blends
• 20 kg sack
• Made in Greece by Farma Friends, a pet-food maker near Thessaloniki that has been blending seed since 1997

Feeding

• Feed measured portions twice a day rather than leaving grain down; pigeons eat past what they need and a fat bird is a slow bird
• Step up to a breeding, moulting or racing mix when the birds' work changes, and come back to this in between
• Offer grit and a mineral or calcium source separately; no seed mix supplies enough calcium on its own
• Clean, fresh water at all times, changed at least daily in hot weather

Good To Know

• This is a maintenance ration. Breeding pairs, birds in moult and racing teams all need more than it provides
• Eleven varieties means less for birds to pick through, which cuts waste but also cuts choice. Watch what is being left in the bowl
• Weigh a scoop once so you know what you are actually feeding. Most lofts over-feed
• Store the sack sealed, cool and off a concrete floor. Grain that takes up damp grows mould, and mouldy grain makes birds ill
