FARMA Canary Special Mix - 1kg

The FARMA Canary Special Mix is FARMA's retail canary blend in a 1 kg bag — the size that makes sense for one or two birds, where a 20 kg sack would go stale long before it ran out.

Key Features

• Formulated for canaries and other small granivorous birds
• 1 kg bag, roughly a month or two of feeding for a single canary
• Cleaned and screened, so less dust and husk in the bowl
• FARMA's Special grade rather than the Budget line
• Made in Greece by Farma Friends, a pet-food maker near Thessaloniki that has been blending seed since 1997

Feeding

• A teaspoon to a tablespoon per canary per day, measured rather than poured
• Tip the husks off the top of the bowl every day — a bowl that looks full is usually nothing but empty shells
• Add greens, egg food through the breeding season, cuttlefish bone and grit
• Clean, fresh water at all times, changed at least daily in hot weather

Good To Know

• The full seed declaration is printed on the bag rather than published online, so check it if your birds have a known sensitivity
• Keep the bag sealed once opened. Oily seed in a warm cupboard goes rancid and attracts pantry moth
• A canary that has stopped singing has usually either come into moult or started to be unwell
• No seed mix supplies enough calcium on its own. A cuttlebone is the simplest fix
• Birds hide illness until very late. One sitting fluffed up on the floor of the cage is an emergency, not an off day
