FARMA 4-Season Pigeon Food - 20kg

The FARMA 4-Season Pigeon Food is a nineteen-variety grain ration FARMA builds around French maize and popcorn and rates for feeding a loft right through the year.

Key Features

• Nineteen seed varieties. Main ingredients include barley, wheat, French popcorn, yellow and red millet, paddy rice, rice, red sorghum, rapeseed, safflower, black and striped sunflower, soya, and yellow, green and brown peas with vetches
• FARMA specifies maize and popcorn of French origin
• Designed as a single ration you can feed across the seasons rather than rotating between mixes
• 20 kg sack
• Made in Greece by Farma Friends, a pet-food maker near Thessaloniki that has been blending seed since 1997

Feeding

• Feed measured portions twice a day rather than leaving grain down; pigeons eat past what they need and a fat bird is a slow bird
• Increase slightly when birds are working or the weather turns cold, and ease off when the loft is quiet
• Offer grit and a mineral or calcium source separately; no seed mix supplies enough calcium on its own
• Clean, fresh water at all times, changed at least daily in hot weather

Good To Know

• A year-round mix is a compromise by design. Breeding, moulting and racing all make higher demands, and FARMA makes separate mixes for each
• Maize and popcorn are energy, not protein. Birds in lay or in moult need more protein than this alone provides
• Store the sack sealed, cool and off a concrete floor. Grain that takes up damp grows mould, and mouldy grain makes birds ill
• Check the sack for weevils and pantry moth in warm weather, and use it within a couple of months
