Description
Replacement odour reducing pad for the Exo Terra Turtle External Canister Filter FX-200.
Why Turtle Tanks Smell
Turtles eat, defecate and live in the same water, and they produce a far heavier waste load for their size than fish do. The smell comes from dissolved organic compounds breaking down — and it is a signal worth paying attention to, because the same water chemistry that produces the odour also produces shell rot, eye infections and respiratory illness.
This pad targets those compounds specifically, alongside the carbon and foam stages.
When to Replace
Replace at each filter service — every 1 to 2 months for a turtle tank. Like carbon, it saturates and stops working with no visible sign, so work to a schedule.
Compatibility
For the Exo Terra Turtle Filter FX-200 only. Single pad.
Important
If the smell returns quickly after a fresh pad, the filter is not the problem — the tank is overstocked, underfiltered, or overdue a partial water change. Media treats the symptom; water changes treat the cause.
