Description
The Exo Terra Feeding Dish XLarge has a realistic rock finish on the outside and a smooth, non-pitted surface inside — long and shallow, for larger reptiles and for salad-eating species.
Why This Shape
At 27.5 cm long but only 4 cm deep, this dish is designed for the animals that eat volume rather than a few insects: bearded dragons, uromastyx, tortoises and other herbivorous and omnivorous species that take a daily bowl of chopped greens.
The long, low profile lets a large lizard feed comfortably without climbing in, and gives enough surface area that food is not piled up and buried.
Why the Surface Matters
A feeding dish in a warm, humid enclosure is one of the more likely places for bacteria to establish. Porous or pitted surfaces hold food residue where a cloth cannot reach it, and reptiles are susceptible to gut infections from contaminated food. This one is coated and non-porous, so residue lifts off rather than soaking in.
Key Features
- Natural rock finish that integrates into desert, tropical or any terrarium
- Non-porous, smooth interior that will not absorb harmful bacteria
- Very stable — not easily tipped over by larger reptiles
- Easy to clean
- Made from food-grade resin

Care
- Remove uneaten greens daily. Salad wilts and ferments quickly at basking temperatures.
- Wash in warm water and scrub gently. Avoid detergents; residues are absorbed through amphibian skin.
- Place at the cooler end of the enclosure so fresh food lasts longer through the day.
