The Ceva Adaptil Calm Collar for Medium & Large Dogs is the medium and large size of the Adaptil Calm collar, releasing the dog appeasing pheromone from your dog's own body heat for four weeks - the version of Adaptil that keeps working when you leave the house.

How To Use

• Put the collar on and adjust it so two fingers fit between the collar and your dog's neck, then cut off the excess strap.
• Leave it on continuously. It works from your dog's body heat, so it stops working when it is taken off.
• Take it off for bathing and shampooing, and put it back on once your dog is dry.
• Replace it every 4 weeks.

Good To Know

• Measure your dog's neck before ordering. This collar covers everything from about 37.5 cm up to 62.5 cm; below that, take the Small.
• This is not a walking collar and has no fastening designed to take a lead. Keep using your normal collar and lead, or a harness, and fit the Adaptil collar alongside it.
• Check the fit regularly, especially on a growing dog. A pheromone collar that is too tight is just as much a problem as any other collar that is too tight.
• It relies on contact with the coat and on body heat, so it works less well on a very thick-coated dog, and on a dog that spends most of its time swimming or being bathed.
• Adaptil copies the pheromone a nursing mother dog produces. It is a dog signal; it has no effect on cats or people.
• Ceva states on the pack that this is not a sedative or a tranquilliser. It does not make a dog drowsy - it changes how secure a situation feels to them.
• It is for background support, not for a specific crisis. For serious noise phobia, separation distress or aggression, speak to your vet - a pheromone alone is unlikely to be enough.
• Training, exercise, routine and gradual desensitisation still do the heavy lifting. The collar makes that work easier rather than replacing it.
• A dog that suddenly becomes anxious, clingy or reactive may be in pain or unwell. Have a vet check them before assuming it is behavioural.
